Edgar Cayce was one of the most noted psychics of the 20th century who was able to gain a wealth of information on many subjects while in a trance-like state.

Edgar Cayce was a devout Christian who believed that meditation is "Listening to the divine within." He was able to access what some call the Akashic Records. Others, like Carl Jung, refer to it as "collective unconscious," while still others refer to it as the "Book of Life."

Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet

Beginning in his 20s, Edgar Cayce found out that he had the remarkable ability to lay down, close his eyes, place his hands over his stomach and enter a state of relaxation and meditation. While in this deep, relaxed, trance state, Cayce was able to obtain a wealth of information on all different aspects of life.

Initially, Cayce's readings were to acquire medical knowledge. People came from all over to get medical diagnoses and cures, (many of them homeopathic.) What made this so amazing is that Cayce had no medical training. In fact, he only went to school until the ninth grade.

Soon, Cayce began to give life readings. In these readings, he was able to access information on people's past lives. While doing readings on himself, Cayce found out he had been a high priest in Egypt in one lifetime and a physician in Persia in another. In the particular lifetime that Cayce was currently living, he was meant to serve mankind.

Cayce's readings went on to involve such topics as God, the lost continent of Atlantis, and future world events. All in all, Cayce gave over 14,000 readings. Although not infallible, Cayce's readings are estimated to be 85%-92% accurate. Cayce claimed that his mind was tapping into the Akashic records.

What Are The Akashic Records?

The Akashic Records, also known as "The Book of Life," or The Library of Life Books, is a type of spiritual library that holds the records of every lifetime that every soul has ever lived. Not only can information on the past be retrieved, but knowledge of the future as well.

These records are how Cayce was able to obtain his vast medical knowledge along with making accurate, future predictions such as his prediction about America entering into World War II.

Meditation And The Akashic Records

There are various guided meditation CDs available on the market to help practitioners access the Akashic records. There are also different online sites which offer free guided meditations. Most of the time these are longer meditations so be sure to allow enough time, without distractions (i.e. turn off the phone!), before beginning.

There is no guarantee that this meditation will work, so don't be disappointed if nothing happens. However, continual practice may increase the chances of being able to access these records. If nothing else, enjoy the meditation and the peacefulness it will bring.

The Association Of Research And Enlightenment

Edgar Cayce gave thousands of readings for more than 40 years of his life. Today, his work lives on at the Association for Research and Enlightenment, (A.R.E.) The A.R.E. is a non-profit organization founded by Cayce in 1931. With centers in 37 countries, research is on-going on such subjects as holistic health, dream interpretation, and intuition. Meditation offers many phenomenal tools for life. In Cayce's case, it gave him the opportunity to aid thousands of people with help of the Akashic records. One can only imagine the endless opportunities and possibilities if able to personally access these records.
